EBS-4015/EFA - A Unique Source

The EBS-4015/EFA is a two-in-one device incorporating a high-power, spectrally-flattened broadband source in the 1550-nm region, and a low noise figure power amplifier. Developed to be a versatile piece of laboratory equipment, satisfying the requirements of applications ranging from telecommunications or fiber sensors to biomedicine, the EBS-4015/EFA is another example of MPB's continuing innovation in erbium-fiber technology.

The EBS-4015/EFA Broadband Source and Power Amplifier utilizes amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) from diode-pumped Erbium-doped fiber and a cleverly-conceived spectral-shaping scheme to produce more than 15 dBm of unpolarized output centered at 1548 nm and with a near flat-top spectrum; maximum ripple does not exceed 2.0 dB over most of the spectrum, namely 39-nm, while 3-dB bandwidth is larger than 40 nm.
